[12:33:39] <psha> SWPLinux: lot of rdf's with irc logs are corrupted
[12:33:48] <SWPLinux> hmm
[12:33:52] <SWPLinux> lots or all?
[12:33:56] <psha> usually they have part of log duplicated after last xml tag
[12:34:08] <psha> not lot, 10-20
[12:34:12] <SWPLinux> ok
[12:34:39] <SWPLinux> can you put a few links to corrupted ones in here? I'll look at them when I have a chance
[12:34:53] <psha> may you run something like xmlstarlet format --recover on them?
[12:35:01] <psha> ok, wait a bit
[12:35:02] <SWPLinux> I don't know
[12:36:36] <psha> i'll upload list in a minutes
[12:37:29] <psha> hm, there are _tons_ of encoding errors which are fine
[12:37:39] <psha> i need to filter structural only
[12:39:21] <SWPLinux> wel, I can't run xmlstarlet on the server. I may be able to download and compile it at some point, but I can't install it since I'm not root
[12:41:25] <psha> you may run it somewhere else
[12:41:30] <psha> and reupload logs
[12:41:37] <psha> or i may run it and give you fixed files
[12:42:09] <psha> http://psha.org.ru/tmp/invalid-logs.txt
[12:42:12] <SWPLinux> that may work too. I'll be back home Tuesday
[12:42:41] <psha> ok, i'll fix them and upload to psha.org.ru
[12:42:52] <psha> also i'll add them to search
[12:47:21] <SWPLinux> the first one looks like the logger decided to make a new file, but did it at the end of the old file
[12:47:39] <SWPLinux> the stuff after the second XML header do belong in the same file
[12:47:47] <SWPLinux> does

[18:32:18] <cradek> people keep talking abou the impending demise of the desktop pc
[18:32:40] <cradek> I wonder what they think will happen to all one billion of the existing ones when that happens
[18:33:04] <skunkworks> right
[18:33:26] <skunkworks> people are still using 486's with turbocnc...
[18:34:57] <cradek> I still have a few working 486s - I suppose they are around 20 years old now
[18:35:51] <cradek> I guess I'm just not that worried
[18:36:34] <skunkworks> heh - we have the 386sx that we used to interface with the k&t tape drive - it still works :)
[18:36:43] <cradek> I suppose it might be true that "content consumers" will more and more buy something that looks more like an ipad than a desktop machine

[18:44:16] <skunkworks> cradek: did you see my comments yesterday about spindle oddness?
[18:44:22] <skunkworks> (to me anyway)
[18:44:24] <cradek> no
[18:46:37] <skunkworks> dad has been playing with axis and had some weird issues with the spindle. I figured it out to - you can mdi, lets say g1x10f100, when you first start emc - the machine moves as normal. The second you do a s100m3, m5. now the spindle at speed need to be true for motion to work. You either have to hit escape. or set the atspeed true.
[18:47:06] <skunkworks> I ended up just making the spindle comp I made set at speed to true when the spindle is off and is supposed to be off.
[18:47:21] <andypugh> That sounds right.
[18:47:35] <andypugh> After all, you did command zero speed.
[18:47:41] <cradek> I'm with andypugh on this
[18:48:01] <skunkworks> right - I guess the only oddity is that you can issue an mdi command initially - untill you start and stop the spindle.
[18:48:13] <skunkworks> but like I said - I think I have it fixed
[18:48:25] <cradek> a change in commanded spindle speed causes the next feed move to wait for at-speed
[18:48:26] <skunkworks> 'fixed' ;)
[18:48:36] <skunkworks> ok
[18:48:44] <cradek> at-speed should be true when you command a stop and the spindle has stopped
[18:48:46] <skunkworks> dad great at finding bugs ;)
[18:49:14] <cradek> not sure it's a bug... if anything, that first move is wierd
[18:49:49] <cradek> does your vfd at-speed output not come on when it is stopped?
[18:50:26] <skunkworks> I don't know if the actual vfd has an at-speed signal. I am doing it in my spindle comp using the encoder signal
[18:50:48] <cradek> gotcha
[18:52:36] <skunkworks> I used the roll pin as a gauge way of setting the top of the work piece for the first time this weekend. works great with the jog wheel :)
[18:53:52] <skunkworks> roll pin? I mean one of those ground pins used for alignment.
[18:54:25] <cradek> dowel pin?
[18:54:27] <skunkworks> (actually - now that I think of it - it was a centering drill) ;)
[18:54:30] <skunkworks> yes
[18:54:32] <cradek> heh
[18:54:43] <cradek> doesn't matter - end mill shank works fine too
[18:54:49] <skunkworks> yes ;)
[18:55:06] <skunkworks> I am giddy - it is working so well.
[18:56:20] <cradek> it's so cool that you revived that crazy old machine.
[18:56:56] <skunkworks> granted - we are cutting plastic - but I could not see any quadrant changes on the circle.
[18:57:53] <cradek> considering what we saw on the indicator, you won't have any when cutting metal either
[18:58:07] <cradek> pretty nice to be able to make a round circle.
[18:59:51] <cradek> bbl
