[00:05:41] <toastydeath> ffff
[01:58:46] <dmess> i'm exploring this HHO technology/myth...
[01:58:49] <dmess> (20:46:03) dmess: it would seem like a natural fuel enhancer for sure...
[01:58:49] <dmess> (20:47:09) dmess: http://www.waterfuelconverters.com/WhatisBrownsGas.html#Chromatography
[01:58:49] <dmess> (20:58:24) dmess: we have any brainiacs in this place to add any logical thought???
[02:08:38] <jepler> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown%27s_Gas#Brown.27s_gas
[02:09:45] <jepler> also, their web page layout is bad in my firefox so clearly they're nuts
[02:12:27] <jepler> also, they seem to think there's something called the "GPU [sic] License Agreement" (see footer text at bottom http://www.waterfuelconverters.com/GNULicense.html) on account of having been copied from wikipedia.
[02:12:53] <DanielFalck> thank you to all who worked on the 5Axis opengl simulation
[02:13:02] <DanielFalck> it's fantastic
[02:13:23] <jepler> DanielFalck: that's cradek's work
[02:13:56] <DanielFalck> I just set up the latest in sim mode. It's a lot of fun to play with
[02:17:59] <dmess> it is SWEET isn't it.... iwas wanting to ask how difficult it would be to to change the visual machine feel??
[02:18:11] <skunkworks> http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showpost.php?p=378244&postcount=21
[02:19:01] <dmess> 4-axis horixontal... vertical... etc.
[02:22:48] <dmess> i was asked how much that simul program cost...
[02:25:00] <cradek> http://timeguy.com/cradek-files/emc/PICT0081.JPG
[02:25:10] <jepler> dmess: a simple language describes the machine's geometry (in terms of cylinders and boxes; polygon meshes could be added by a programmer) and connectivity (parts that move in a linear or rotary fashion) Here is the source code for the existing simulations: http://cvs.linuxcnc.org/cvs/emc2/src/emc/usr_intf/axis/scripts/5axisgui.py?rev=1.6 http://cvs.linuxcnc.org/cvs/emc2/src/emc/usr_intf/axis/scripts/pumagui.py?rev=1.3
[02:25:16] <jepler> http://cvs.linuxcnc.org/cvs/emc2/src/emc/usr_intf/axis/scripts/scaragui.py?rev=1.8 http://cvs.linuxcnc.org/cvs/emc2/src/emc/usr_intf/axis/scripts/hexagui.py?rev=1.2
[02:26:03] <jepler> cradek: how much speed did you lose on "Z"?
[02:26:08] <cradek> jepler: none
[02:26:26] <cradek> and I gained a lot of travel
[02:26:38] <cradek> (I need to get a leadscrew an inch longer to get all of it)
[02:26:54] <jepler> what about Y -- is that a break-even?
[02:27:05] <cradek> it might have a tad more
[02:27:12] <cradek> it has about 4.5 now
[02:28:10] <dmess> this looks easier than NCSIMUL.. out of france....
[02:29:05] <cradek> now I have to motorize "C" and make a driver board, and it'll be done
[02:29:29] <jepler> cradek: (MSG,rotate "C" to 45 degrees) M0
[02:29:37] <cradek> ha
[02:30:00] <dmess> fun for giggles
[02:30:05] <cradek> that's been done I'm sure
[02:33:54] <jepler> dmess: their bullet list says ncsimul does more things, like simulate material removal.. this software doesn't do any of that stuff
[02:35:23] <jepler> I wonder what methods are used to represent the remaining material volume....
[02:37:02] <dmess> stl
[02:37:09] <dmess> models
[02:37:40] <dmess> hounding our 1 tetra drive disk
[02:39:27] <dmess> it HAS found the line # of a gouge.... but no-one simulated the alteration... so WHO knew...
[02:42:36] <dmess> we have 40 hour runs on some of the new multi-funtion machines
[04:41:05] <eric_U> somebody warn me if the second law of thermo is repealed
[04:45:58] <LawrenceG> in Canada you only get probation for breaking the 2nd law
[05:07:31] <eric_Unter> I'm finding out that it helps when you hook up your limit switch wiring
[05:09:58] <eric_Unter> as opposed to just running it into the switch like I did
[10:43:00] <fenn_> fenn_ is now known as fenn

[14:44:29] <fenn> jepler: do you have a version of biarcs.ngc in a different language?
[14:50:21] <jepler> fenn: there's this: http://axis.unpythonic.net/01171767993 (python)
[14:50:26] <jepler> it's not quite the same thing though
[14:51:45] <fenn> thanks, that works
[15:16:36] <skunkworks> this is kinda neet http://www.grizzly.com/products/Combo-Lathe-w-Milling-Attachment/G0516
[16:23:00] <skunkworks> Guest920: hi
[16:23:24] <Guest920> Hi
[16:24:31] <Guest920> I am having some problems w/ Ububtu crashing. Is this a good place to ask?
[16:25:09] <skunkworks> sure
[16:25:17] <skunkworks> maybe :)
[16:25:29] <SWPadnos> if it's the EMC2 version of Ubuntu, then sure ;)
[16:26:31] <skunkworks> are you cbcnc?
[16:27:01] <Guest920> I downloaded the Live CD and EMC2. I get it running on my P111 machine and then it crashes. Seems like it's graphics related as it happens when I'm using the mouse.
[16:27:32] <Guest920> cbcnc here.
[16:27:57] <skunkworks> http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48217
[16:28:34] <skunkworks> (a little background)
[16:29:10] <skunkworks> have you run a latency test yet?
[16:29:59] <Guest920> No, I have just gotten Ubuntu running and been exploring otherwise.
[16:30:31] <skunkworks> Does the machine have onboard video? (on the motherboard)
[16:31:24] <Guest920> No, it's an Elsa Erasure X card (Nvidia)
[16:31:58] <SWPadnos> Elsa - are they in business still?
[16:32:03] <skunkworks> what exactly does it do when it 'crashes'? Is it only when your running emc?
[16:32:07] <SWPadnos> (I know it's an old machine/card, just curious)
[16:32:13] <Guest920> It's an old computer.
[16:33:50] <Guest920> I have another card. A Diamond Stealth 64 that I was going to try to swap out in nescessary.
[16:34:33] <Guest920> It simply freezes up completely and I have to reboot.
[16:35:22] <Guest920> It happens in Ubuntu.
[16:36:28] <SWPadnos> do you have to move the mouse around, or does it happen if you just leave the PC at the Ubuntu desktop?
[16:36:37] <SWPadnos> also, have you run memtest on this PC?
[16:37:19] <Guest920> Three times now it has happend when I am using the mouse but once when the screen saver loaded.
[16:37:46] <SWPadnos> ok. I'd try memtest first. let it run for a long time (like overnight)
[16:37:47] <Guest920> Other than the memory test at boot , no.
[16:38:14] <SWPadnos> then take a look at which driver is being usd for X. if it's not "vesa", then change to the vesa driver
[16:38:58] <Guest920> Memtest in DOS? Or in Ubuntu?
[16:39:16] <SWPadnos> it's a boot option - hit esc for the GRUB menu, then select memtest
[16:39:32] <SWPadnos> or boot from the liveCD and run it from there
[16:40:13] <Guest793> Guest793 is now known as skunkworks_
[16:41:12] <Guest920> I got alot to learn. OK, I will try those things for now. Thank you. I will check back.
[16:41:20] <SWPadnos> ok, good luck with it
[16:41:43] <skunkworks_> I was typing to no one..
[16:41:55] <SWPadnos> apparently
[16:42:03] <Guest920> I will also update the zone with my experiences. Cbcnc out.
[16:42:15] <skunkworks_> good luck - come back anytime

[23:03:48] <JymmmEMC> LawrenceG: frost!
[23:53:24] <dogfishguzzler> Any of you guys ever mess around with hte1857 IC stepper motor driver?
[23:53:30] <dogfishguzzler> nte*
[23:55:43] <dogfishguzzler> I have the IC connected the way I think it needs to be but have a few questions.
[23:55:51] <dogfishguzzler> Before I fry it.
[23:56:50] <dogfishguzzler> What is 'maximum sink current' because I can set this. Also does the term phase 'A' mean anything to you guys?
