[06:01:26] -!- Fox_Muldr has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
[06:01:47] <jesseg> Anyway, Slic3r of course puts stuff out in mm
[06:02:14] <jesseg> and LinuxCNC was essentially working, EXCEPT it was moving a whole inch for each mm requested on the A axis...

[06:23:56] <jesseg> [AXIS_3]
[06:23:57] <jesseg> TYPE = LINEAR
[06:27:27] <jesseg> X, Y, and Z are all handled correctly.
[06:28:07] <jesseg> But I suppose Slic3r could be changing the unit type for just the A axis
[06:36:15] -!- norbert has quit [Ping timeout: 245 seconds]
[06:42:07] <jesseg> or maybe slicer set setting the unit for XYZ but NOT for A, so A is being left at the default of inches
[06:42:21] <jesseg> our plan is to try setting up LinuxCNC in mm mode and see if that works better

[09:27:43] <dchevak> I have been googling manual to cnc conversion but most are on smaller lathes would like some help with stepper motor size and ball screw type and size ?
[09:29:04] <archivist_herron> you may be better off thinking about servo drives on a larger lathe
[09:29:28] <dchevak> if anyone know of a site that shows how to would be great I seen a post before on a 14x40 lathe where he added the stepper motors but was also able to use it manualy for 1 offs that is more on the line of what I want
[09:30:57] <archivist_herron> some add hand driven encoders for hand use

[10:30:33] <mrsun_> RyanS, but there are insert tooling that is quite sharp also =) the ones made for alu etc for example =)

[12:50:01] <jthornton> are you engraving a paragraph on the ring?
[12:50:18] <Tom_itx> heh
[12:50:31] <ries> jthornton: or for making insets... I am not doing it, I am just wondering what to think of...
[12:51:06] <jthornton> 0.01mm is pretty small at 0.0004"
[12:51:53] <ries> that's like 10um, I remember I bought milar for my ESL's that was 10um, pretty thin stuff...

[20:26:38] <Loetmichel> i think this is called "BURN IN TEST" ;-)
